Description: This is a beginner’s class with clear step by step instructions on how to create a piece of art on a 12”x12” silk.   Painting on silk is a sensuous experience.  The silk undulates with each stroke of your brush.  You will have fun exploring exciting, vivid techniques of painting on silk.  With the “Serti” resist technique combined with washes of bright colours you will create a work of art in silk ready to be enjoyed in your home or office.

Fee: $60+GST   Please bring:  #4, #6, and #10 inexpensive, synthetic, round watercolour brush or whatever you have.  We will make it work.  Bring a hairdryer if you can, old shirt or apron to protect your clothes.  We will have a short break for lunch.  Silk scarves and silk dyes are included in the cost of the class.

Intermediate Silk Painting Course

Must have taken introduction to Silk Painting

This is an intermediate class to paint a 8”x54” silk scarf from start to finish.  Painting on silk is a sensuous experience.  The silk undulates with each stroke of your brush.  With a resist technique combined with washes of bright colours you will create a beautiful, colourful artistic scarf to drape around your neck.

You will need to have a design drawn up to size, ready to trace and an idea of what colours you want to paint the scarf.  You can design an image on both ends of the scarf 8” width or an abstract freeform design would also work.

It would be speed things along if you could bring a small hair dryer.  Please bring small, medium and large brushes. 

Saturday November 12, 10:00-5:00pm (12 students)  Cost $100 includes silk scarf and paints.  Your own design.
