A FLUID EXPRESSION OF NATURE’S BEAUTY: SILK ART BY WENDY LEE

Silk Winds arrive at The Pavilion Art Gallery at Assiniboine Park.

Winnipeg’s premiere silk painting artist Wendy Lee launches an exhibition of her large silk paintings at the Assiniboine Park Pavilion Gallery July 13th-Oct 27th, 2019

Reception: Saturday July 13th, 1:00 pm-3:00pm

Known for her beautiful hand painted silk scarves as wearable art, Wendy’s new show features framed silk paintings, using the traditional Asian technique of painting on silk. The gorgeous detail and colours of Wendy’s art features Manitoba-themed flora and fauna, including butterflies, dragonflies, polar bears, and prairie scenes. Originally from Toronto, Wendy has lived and worked all over North America - from Yellowknife to New Mexico. For the past 14 years, Wendy has made Winnipeg her home, selling her Silk Winds art through various outlets throughout Canada, including the WAG Shops, Teekca’s Boutique, Fort Whtye and Assiniboine Zoo.

The spirit of the North comes alive! Designed and individually hand-painted on 100% silk at her studio in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, artist Wendy Lee draws upon the culture, distinct wildlife and landscape of her once Northern home. Framed as an art piece or draped around your neck as wearable art, you’ll enjoy this Northern memento for years to come.
